Our sweet girl is four months old today and it seems with every passing day she becomes more and more lively and personality! It’s been so much fun to see her mature and grow in many ways and begin to form attachments to Greyson. He is pretty much the funniest person to her and it melts us every time she giggles at him – and, of course, he loves the attention, too.
This month she has doubled her birth weight and sits at a nice and healthy 16 lbs (if you happened to not have noticed the adorable baby chunk she’s put on!).
Olivia at 4 Months
According to VeryWell Family these are the milestones most 4 month olds hit and the ones she is showing us this month:
- sits with support
- is beginning to twist as if to roll over (but not rolling just yet)
- holds head up and chest – now she holds her head up when on her tummy!
- reaches for objects and pulls them to her mouth
- brings hands to mouth and OH, SO DROOLY!
- smiles all the time and enjoys reading and playing
- babbling more and making more sounds
This month we began supplementing with formula in addition to breastfeeding. I am thankful we’ve made it to this mark in nursing because Greyson kicked me off at 5 months…so, I’m holding my breath to be able to nurse her longer. We made this choice to supplement because we noticed she was still hungry even after nursing both breasts, so “fed is best” in our home and naturally we continue to feed her about 2-4 oz as needed after nursing.
In terms of sleeping she is on a regular schedule during the day, however, at night she’s begun to be up every 3 hours or so to nurse. I’m beginning to wonder if she’s actually hungry or we’ve somehow allowed her to get in this habit of waking in the middle of the night.
ENJOYING & DISLIKING
Surprisingly, not much has changed this month in terms of what she’s loving and disliking – it’s all pretty much the same. I will say, however, she loves to watch and be near Greyson. She thinks he’s just the funniest thing walking and Grey, of course, adores the attention from her. He knows just how to make her giggle and it’s these moments where I love the dynamic between the two of them!
Last year Fiesta and NIOSA was cancelled due to the pandemic, but this year it had been postponed from its usual date in April to June. So, this means that our Olivia will get to experience her very first Fiesta here in San Antonio and we couldn’t be more excited. Fiesta is an outdoor cultural festival event that highlights and celebrates the culture and history of San Antonio.
Olivia is also heading back out to “glamp” with us and now the grandparents thanks to Getaway! You can read all about our first experience tiny camping – but spoiler alert, it was such a refreshing and enjoyable 24 hours we’re making it a point to go once every few months! We’re headed out this upcoming week and once again looking forward for this time to unplug!
Brand Rep for Mrly
This month Olivia became a little brand rep for the AAPI and woman-owned company, Mrly. I first discovered them on Instagram when looking for child masks for Greyson right around the time the pandemic hit. Kyoko is amazing I love that all of her children’s clothes are made in the USA and of high-quality Japanese fabric. Olivia’s cardigan just arrived and the hand-embroidery adds such a special touch!
